Lengths and diameters of peripheral arterial vessels in the living animal.

چکیده
• In 1888, a histological study Avas made of blood vessels in dog mesentery by Mall. Several decades later, the data were used by Schleier to discuss the effects of branching of an arterial tree on the velocity and pressure of blood. Mall's data were again used by Green, in 1944, to compute the approximate dimensions, numbers, lengths, and total crosssectional area of component parts of the circulation.

Dimensions of Blood Vessels from Distributing Artery to Collecting Vein
• In a recent study, measurements of lengths, diameters, and numbers of vessels contained in a peripheral vascular bed from distributing artery to arterial capillaries were made in the living animal. From the data, total crosssectional areas of the various portions of the arterial tree were calculated and compared with values from similar measurements of vessels in fixed tissue. In the living a...

متن کاملGeometric similarity of aorta, venae cavae, and certain of their branches in mammals.
The diameters of the aorta and venae cavae at various points throughout their lengths, the diameters of their major branches, and the lengths of various aortic and vena caval segments were measured in plastic corrosion casts of the arterial and venous systems of the normal adult mouse, rat, rabbit, dog, goat, horse, and cow, extending over a body weight range of 38,000-fold (arterial) and 1,100...
متن کاملSimulation study of Hemodynamic in Bifurcations for Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation using Electrical Analogy
Background and Objective: Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation (CAVM) hemodynamic is disease condition, results changes in the flow and pressure level in cerebral blood vessels. Measuring flow and pressure without catheter intervention along the vessel is big challenge due to vessel bifurcations/complex bifurcations in Arteriovenous Malformation patients. The vessel geometry in CAVM patients are...
متن کاملBifurcation asymmetry of the porcine coronary vasculature and its implications on coronary flow heterogeneity.
The branching pattern of the coronary arteries and veins is asymmetric, i.e., many small vessels branch off of a large trunk such that the two daughter vessels at a bifurcation are of unequal diameters and lengths. One important implication of the geometric vascular asymmetry is the dispersion of blood flow at a bifurcation, which leads to large spatial heterogeneity of myocardial blood flow. T...
